The BBKA Examination Board is responsible for setting written and practical examinations in support of the BBKA’s desire to educate and set standards for beekeepers.
The starting point and entry requirement for all other examinations and assessments is the Basic Assessment in Beekeeping; this practical assessment tests the basic skills and knowledge of the craft.
The assessment is completely practical/oral, takes place at the Sawmill, and is conducted by a BBKA Assessor.
It is open to all who have managed at least one colony of bees for a minimum of 12 months. It must be completed by 31 August each year.
The entrance fee is £15.00, and you can apply using the form below.
We have yet to set a date for the 2019 basic assessments but we are currently looking at late July or early August. If you are interested, please email nicky@sheffieldbeekeepers.org.uk and we will keep you up to date.
